Drilling and screwing

Drilling precise holes and fastening bolts securely are two of the most repeated jobs in track maintenance. Our range of rail drilling machines and screwing equipment covers both petrol and hydraulic-powered options, built for accuracy, speed and reliability on every shift.

What are Drilling and screwing products and how do they work?

Pandrol's drilling and screwing range includes everything track teams rely on to bore precise holes, including fishplate drilling equipment and tools for rail joint drilling.

High-performance rail drilling machines are key to fastening bolts securely on rail, sleepers and fixtures.

Our petrol-powered machines use a four-stroke engine with automatic throttle control, increasing drill speed only as the cutter meets the rail, so fuel use and tool wear stay low. Alternatively, our hydraulic rail drilling machines draw power from a compatible hydraulic source, delivering consistent torque without an onboard engine.

Speak to our rail experts
  • Suits fishplate and rail joint drilling as well as general rail and sleeper maintenance.

  • Dual drilling and fastening functionality of the impact wrench reduces the number of tools needed on site.

  • Automatic throttle and hydraulic input protect components and limit fuel or energy waste.

Product benefits

  • Reliable Performance

Four-stroke engines and controlled hydraulic input deliver consistent torque, even in demanding conditions.

  • Dual Functionality

Drill and fasten with the impact wrench, cutting the equipment track teams need to carry and maintain.

  • Operator Comfort and Safety

Lightweight, ergonomic designs and vibration-reducing handles protect operators during long shifts.

Overview

The EasyDrill-P-40 is a petrol-powered rail drilling machine built for vignole and tram rail drilling. Its four-stroke Honda engine and accelerator synchronisation mean the cutter only speeds up as it meets the rail, keeping fuel use and tool wear low. A modular rail clamp and precision-engineered templates let operators switch rail profiles or drilling patterns without changing the whole unit.

Overview

The 04500D and 04525 combine drilling and fastening in one compact hydraulic tool, running at 5 GPM and 2000 PSI. The 04500D's quick-change chuck and 1/2" square drive suit fast bit and socket changes, while the 04525's 5/8" keyed chuck is built for heavier-duty drilling. At 4.9kg, both models stay light enough for extended maintenance sessions.

Overview

The Self-Feed Rail Drill (03500) runs on a hydraulic power source rather than an onboard engine, delivering consistent torque for demanding drilling work. Patented arrowhead inserts and an automatic feed system produce precise holes quickly, while double-sided templates and interchangeable insert holders cover a wide range of rail profiles and hole sizes from a single lightweight unit.

Overview

Portable but powerful, the Lightweight Two-Stage Spike Puller weighs only 39lbs but generates an impressive pulling force of 13,000lbs. What really makes this spike puller unique, however, is the internal dual-speed design which ensures operators grasp the spike at a slower speed. This eliminates the jerking motion which is a common hazard of most spike pullers.

Overview

The Impact Wrench Master 35 is a petrol-driven, dual-purpose tool for screwing and unscrewing bolts from 16 to 32mm diameter, and for drilling holes in wooden sleepers. Five torque settings and a double-handle design limit vibration during extended use, while fully insulated trolley rollers protect operators from stray electrical currents on track.

Overview

The Pandrol 1” Impact Wrench (02500) is a powerful, ergonomic tool for removing and tightening all track bolts. Designed with anti-vibration features and torque control, it ensures both operator comfort and performance.
