Fastening equipment

Our range of rail track fastening equipment automates the clipping and de-clipping of rail fastenings, driving efficient construction and maintenance.

What are Fastening equipment products and how do they work?

Pandrol’s range of clipping equipment is designed and manufactured by Rosenqvist Rail, and the products are compatible with a variety of different fastening types including Pandrol’s own Fastclip and e-Clip. The range spans over compact, single-operator tools to high-output, self-propelled rail fastening machines, as well as excavator attachments, allowing to match the right track fastening equipment to the job. The mechanisation of moving the clip between parked and service position allows significant improvement in installation and maintenance of track. Intuitive controls and safety features are built into the products to reduce time on track and keep operators away from moving hazards.

Speak to our rail experts
  • The IQ range monitors operations, logs clips installed and flags errors early, helping to plan maintenance and avoid incorrect machine use.

  • CD400 & CD400 IQ SP can be equipped for both e-clip & Fastclip making it the ideal for equipment for maintenance work.

  • The battery on CD100 allows up to 250 clipping or de-clipping operations on one charge.

Product benefits

  • Efficiency

The various equipment are built with the user in mind, featuring intuitive control systems and safety features that will minimize downtime and allow high efficiency also when maintenance windows are short.

  • Built to last

Designed and manufactured by Rosenqvist Rail in Sweden, the clip drivers are built to one worldwide standard and are used by operators and contractors on rail projects around the globe since decades.

  • Sustainability

The battery-powered CD100 B delivers emission-free clipping in tunnels and stations, while newer diesel models have been designed to meet the latest emissions standards, reducing the environmental impact of on-track work.

Overview

The CD400SP IQ is Pandrol’s second-generation walk-behind clipping machine, following the original CD400SP. This robust and efficient self-propelled machine is equipped with an EU Stage 5 Hatz diesel engine and a new intelligent control system. The CD400SP IQ logs operational history (running hours, clips installed, error log). It installs 4 clips simultaneously across two rails and includes a sleeper lift function for new construction. The manoeuvring unit is now cordless for greater operator flexibility.

Overview

Rosenqvist Rail’s Clip Driver CD400 is a robust, high- performance clipping machine that clips and unclips Pandrol Fastclips and e-Clips. When fitted with proximity sensors, the CD400 fastens clips automatically, enabling additional productivity and security. Attached to a railroad vehicle (RRV) and equipped with a sleeper lift, the Clip Driver CD400 can be used to raise low ties for new construction (Fastclip only), harnessing hydraulic power from the RRV. The easily adjustable attachment has a durable frame structure that is fitted with high-quality bearings to ensure longevity and maintain performance levels.

Overview

Clip Driver CD300 IQ is a high-production clipping machine designed to install Pandrol Fastclip FC and FE fastening systems. Clip Driver CD300 IQ EC is a version specially designed for e-Clip fastening systems. The design is based on proven CD400 technology, with performance enhancements. Tools fold up when not in use, eliminating the risk of collision with shoulders, fishplates and clips in the track. The intelligent control system monitors machine operation and actively controls the clipping process. Clip Drivers CD300 IQ and CD300 IQ has a quick adjustment for various rail heights and guiding rollers ensure it is centred on the track. Its low weight makes it suitable for use on smaller road-rail machines.

Overview

The Clip Driver CD200 IQ uses intelligent control systems to simplify operation. The smart system provides information on clips installed and number of operating hours, and prevents incorrect use of the machine. The modular, lightweight design enables it to be lifted on and off track easily. Thanks to mechanical and hydraulic quick connectors, switching between the clipping tools for Fastclip and e-Clip is simple. A patented built-in sleeper lift function allows the operator to lift low-lying sleepers of 50 mm. The CD200 IQ is powered using a new power pack and a Honda engine.

Overview

The CD100 clipping machine is designed for clipping and declipping Pandrol Fastclips. Compact and lightweight, it is suitable for use by a single operator and can be easily carried onto site. The CD100 is composed of three parts: a power pack and two clipping tools. As part of its ergonomic design, a weight-bearing wheel runs along the rail, dramatically reducing the physical strain on the operator. Although optimised for smaller clipping and declipping applications, the CD100 is versatile and can be coupled quickly and easily to other equipment. This version is also available powered by battery, suitable for tunnels, stations and densely populated areas where working safely with low noise and clean air is a priority.

Enabling Reliable High-Speed Rail Infrastructure with Rapid Track Installation in Madrid

Azvi / 2020

In 2020, our customer, Azvi, required a ballastless fastening solution to be installed on a long viaduct on the Madrid– Galicia high speed rail line. This was an added challenge due to the viaduct needing to support train speeds of up to 350 kilometres per hour.

Did you know?

There are more Pandrol clips
in service than there are people
in Europe. Over three-times the
amount to be precise. We have
3 billion clips in use and Europe has a population of around 750 million.
