What are Cooling products and how do they work?
The i+cool rail weld cooling device increases welding productivity by cooling rail welds faster than natural methods allow. Compact and weighing just 21kg when ready for use, it holds an integrated water tank and sprays a fine mist through stainless steel nozzles to bring each weld to the optimum temperature for grinding.
i+cool suits normal gap, wide gap and head wash repair (HWR) welding, cutting overall completion time without compromising weld integrity. For some processes, the rail weld cooling device can save up to 24 hours, avoiding a return visit to the worksite and the extra cost and time involved.
Quick to set up: stainless steel nozzles plug straight into the integrated water tank.
Automatic timer and controlled stop keep cooling consistent from weld to weld.

Overview
i+cool is a water-cooling unit that speeds up the cooling stage after casting. On quick repair jobs, it can bring the weld down to around 50°C within 20 minutes, allowing finish grinding to start straightaway and minimising disruption to traffic on the line. This suits emergency repairs where track access is limited.
