What are Anti-theft fastening products and how do they work?

Anti-vandal fastening system protect installations against tampering, vandalism and theft – a growing risks for rail networks worldwide. Pandrol has a range of features on the e-clip system that are designed to resist theft or vandal. With the addition of a tamper-resistant rail fastening, these system maintains the same clamping force and installation method as standard e-Clip, adding security without changing how your track performs. Another solution is the Safelok III which needs a specific tooling to be removed.

Overview

Safelock III is a standalone anti-theft fastening clip, not an e-Clip variation. It supports fully mechanised installation with existing track equipment and meets the standards set by major railroads worldwide. Removing the clip requires specific tooling, making it well suited to areas with a higher risk of theft or vandalism.

Rail clip theft prevention on the e-Clip system revolves around a set of built-in features: a heel step that requires a special removal tool, a toe lock that stops the clip rotating out of position, an internal latch built into the e-clip shoulder and corresponding e-clip and a crimped sleeve that locks the clip onto the shoulder for ultimate security. Each option can be specified alone or combined, depending on the level of risk at your site.
